The Gettysburg Experience

Last week I used a few words (about 1500 of them) to describe the Neshanock's four games at the Gettysburg National 19th Century Base Ball Festival.  This week, the camera and creativity of Lauren Marchese Nunn captures the Gettysburg experience.  What follows is only a small sample of Lauren's pictures.  She has kindly made the rest available and pictures can be downloaded using the pin - 6569.  Thanks, Lauren!

An historic and picturesque venue

There was no shortage of bats

Keystone Baseball Club of Harrisburg

Mountain Athletic Club of Fleischmanns, New York

Which bat is best for the next Neshanock striker?

Fans attend from many locales, not to mention historical periods

The Lewes Baseball Club gets ready for action

The Mountain Athletic Club strikers were ready to head to the line

Some strikers ran downhill to first

While others found it an uphill climb

Either way, staying hydrated was key

Defense was played strategically

And sometimes successfully

The Neshanock had an team first when Jim "Jersey" Nunn and his sons, Chris "Sideshow" Nunn and Matt "Fly" Nunn were all on base simultaneously and scored on the same play - Danny "Lefty" Gallagher's grand slam (without RBIs) home run.  Naturally Lauren was right there to record the moment.

Appropriately for his senior position "Jersey" tallied first

"Fly" was not far behind

Last, but not least was "Sideshow," followed by "Lefty," the "founder of the feast"

Runs were tallied both by umpires and scorekeepers

Post game speeches were made

Tommy Druen of the Georgetown Gentlemen Club of Kentucky

Collin Miller of the Mountain Athletic Club

Chris "Lowball" Lowry

Handshakes followed

Neshanock and the Georgetown Gentlemen

Canal Dover Redlegs

And when everything was finished, photographers were still looking for that one last picture
